Question for bodybuilders or MMA participants?
I am converting my garage into a gym and I want to get back into shape and join Big House Boxing and start training.
I have always wanted to participate in a sport but was too afraid in high school. I’m 21 now and figure its time to just participate and stop worrying.
Anyways…my question is…do you guys take supplements to aid in your workouts? What would you recommened?
And could you please give me some diet tips? I eat mostly Thai food but tend to get sidetracked when my fiancee brings home Burger King…
Thanks a lot!
Silencer- I appreciate the list and I’ll check those out.
yes everyone and their mother take supplements but they don’t do much for most people.
whats most important is to get into good shape. because before you can really get some serious results from your body you need to be in shape so it can handle training hard. this goes for going to a boxing gym (unless its like a cardio fit class), you want to be in good shape because the class will be intimidating and hard as it is.
eat well, many meals 6-8 per, lots of fruits, veges, whole grain, lean proteins. drink more water
don’t worry about supplements, but some of the best to start would be a multivitamin, creatine, glutimine, essential fats. green tea.
to combat burger king, fill yourself up with good foods first, but don’t worry about the bad foods once you start training they won’t effect you as much, and youll be more motivated to stay away from them

Just start exercising, the first week or two you’ll be sore. I wouldn’t worry to much about supplements until you get into peak workout shape when you’ll be pushing yourself everyday. Right now just eat healthier and work out often and hard! Don’t quit early, it’ll take months of hard work to get anywheres close to bad ass.

There is no substitute for hard work, hard training and a good diet, supplements are designed to give you an extra lift, but should not be the main focus. With that said, these are the supplements I use
1)Protein drink-helps recover from soreness, etc.
2)Multivitamins-helps boost my immune system and give me energy
3)Omega 3-helps with cardiovascular health and joints

There are a lot of good supplements that will help you. These are not listed in order of importance:
1) whey hydrolysate (after a workout) — several companies make this, but you will probably have to order it online. Its great for recovery. The peptides are broken into smaller pieces making it quick to absorb.
2) Fish oil — it will help improve several things you need as an athlete, like insulin sensitivity, glucose tolerance, and easier time keeping off bodyfat along with your daily supply of Omega 3 fatty acids.
3) Creatine — Yes, it is perfectly safe. Anybody who lifts weights can attest to the strength improvements it gives you during your workout.
4) BCAAs — Along with whey protein hydrolysate, another great thing to take before, during, and after a workout. It will significantly improve protein sythesis.
5) Greens superfood (powdered vegetables) — great for getting your phytonutrients esspecially if you have a crappy diet.
6) Beta Alanine — The next creatine. Significantly improves strength during a workout. Take it with creatine before a workout, and you will be unstoppable during training!!
7) Tribulus — This is highly optional. Its a natural testosterone booster.
Other than all those listed above, I would suggest eating natural foods i.e. things that don’t have an ‘ingredients’ list. Thats a good rule. This means fruits, veges, meats, eggs, etc. Try eating natural foods about 90% of the time.
Notice that I didn’t list a multivitamin. This is because studies show that vitamins work better in their natural state in veges and fruits. Fruits and veges have lots of antioxidants and phytonutrients that work to enhance the effects of vitamins.
